What we've been up to...

It’s been a while since we posted any news, but that doesn’t mean to say we haven’t been busy!

Over the last 2 years things have been incredibly difficult for most businesses, and we’ve been focused on supporting our clients and partners, or our business friends as we like to call them, in any way we can.

As the majority of our work takes us overseas, like many businesses we had to adapt our working model. This has meant we’re now Zoom ‘experts’ – or at least we know not to say, “Can you hear me?”!! The use of technology has at least meant we’ve been able to carry on supporting and collaborating with our friends in the UK and overseas.

We’ve also taken the opportunity to learn new things, try new things, and do new things.

So here’s a snapshot of those ‘things’ we’ve been doing to keep ourselves busy…

Lock Out Tag Out
Working with our partner, Proactive Safety Leadership (www.proactive-sl.co.uk), we helped a major packaging company in the UK assess their progress in implementing an enhanced Lock Out Tag Out process – called LOTOTO (Lock Out Tag Out Try Out) - together with Proactive Safety Leadership we audited 29 sites across the UK, assessing the level and quality of implementation. We were really impressed by the level of commitment and buy-in across the company, from General Managers to machine operators the co-operation and enthusiasm for continuous improvement was really good to see and experience.

PUWER
In the autumn we extended our scope by learning about PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations. We attended a two-day course, with follow-up exercises and real-time inspections. This will enable us to support our partners at Proactive Safety Leadership as they build their capacity to carry out PUWER inspections and risk assessment.

Executive coaching/leadership assessment
Having over 20 years’ experience as a leader and senior manager, Stirling, our MD and lead consultant, has been keen for some time to use his experiences and the things he has learned along the way to benefit current and future leaders. In 2021 he was asked to take part in Stepping Up, a mentoring programme for public-sector managers/leaders supported by the Department for Work and Pensions and based in the south-west of the UK. We were thrilled to be part of this programme working with two progressive managers, we’ve been delighted to see the positive progress both have made.

In November, as lockdown and travel restrictions began to ease, we found ourselves in Doha, Qatar. We were there as part of a team from Competence HR (www.competencehr.com) to run a series of assessments for the Qatar Leadership Centre, a government organisation tasked with developing Qatari leaders of the future. We were responsible for the Rising Leaders assessment centre, designed to assess the leadership skills and potential of over 80 Qatari nationals from both the public- and private-sectors. We met some great people and were excited to see the potential for leadership growth in Qatar.

In February 2022, we began working with the Oman Ministry of Labour. Providing executive coaching to participants on the Etimad Leadership Programme, designed to help Oman grow it leadership capability and capacity. We’re meeting and collaborating with some brilliant young (and not so young) leaders and are having some great conversations – the future is bright for the leaders of the future in Oman!

Well, that’s just s snapshot of some of the exciting things we’ve been up to, and we continue to look for new and interesting projects to be involved in.
